Peter Moore Smith - Los Angeles

Today was a special treat as Peter Moore Smith made his way to Mysteries To Die For to sign his new book LOS ANGELES.

You may have heard of this Mr. Smith from his first novel, RAVELING, which was nominated for an Edgar for Best First Novel. This novel is currently being discussed on 4MA (For Mystery Addicts)

He spent the time during the visit reading excerpts from the book including the scene when our hero Angel, tried to add a blue pigment to his skin. A very funny scene. He is a very skilled reader, something that not many authors are good at. I could Angel's voice in his reading. We also learn about Angel's obsession with the movie Blade Runner, one of Peter's favorite.

I asked Peter about why RAVELING had no chapters. His answer was that chapters are easy way to end scenes. I also asked about his writing practice of writing 2 pages a day. He does have a day job, so he writes in the morning before he goes to work. He is about 150 pages into his next novel at this point. His beautiful wife Bridgettee attended the signing too. I look forward to the next novel from this rising star.
