Jesse Sublett Update !

I can be such a flake at times. This past weekend I had planned to meet up with Jesse. However, the time for his signing was confusing, so I missed him. He was kind enough to do his own write-up for me...

Here is a recent TV interview that I found on line.. scroll down the page and find the Windows Media file to hear Jesse talk about his book and some live footage of THe Skunks performing live in Austin, Texas.

Thanks, Aldo. I wish I could get that thing to work. I have a mac and the Windows player is very fussy.

Did I send you the link for the LA Weekly review? It's a good one.

My other band, Class of 78, is playing here in Austin on July 16 at Hole in the Wall, then on the 18th I'll do a signing at Barnes & Noble Arboretum at 2 PM. I had a signing there about a week ago but it was raining cats & dogs and flooding here so the crowd was a bit small, so they gave me another date, expecting a big turnout. Today I'm on the local PBS station on a show called Austin Now, and a reporter for an NPR program (its name escapes me) interviewed me Tuesday. When I learn when that will run (and the name of the show) I'll let you know.

The NPR story was on Day to Day, and you can find it at
NPR by doing a search on Jesse Sublett and it'll take you there.

The story's not bad. The reporter compressed my backstory in a way that's a little off, but he used a number of clips of Skunks music which works pretty well. The story doesn't mention my marriage or LA years, much less the battle with cancer, but like I said, it's not bad and I really appreciate the fact that I made it to NPR.

I recently realized that my interview with the Class of 78 band on KUT-FM, plus the 5 songs we performed, is online also. Just go to KUT.org and find Jazz, Etc., and you'll see the link.

Ed Ward did a story on the Austin punk / new wave scene for Fresh Air a couple of years ago, and that's pretty good, too. Mmmm, wonder if that's still online? I'll check and post that too, if I find it.
